What is Breakthrough T1D’s Giving Day?
Our Giving Day is a chance for the dedicated T1D community to raise vital funds for research. As we all know, research will help us solve the T1D puzzle, piece by piece, discovery by discovery. This is the chance to make a HUGE impact on T1D research, as all donations from the public will be matched thanks to our generous partners!
When does Giving Day start?
Giving Day begins at 12:01am AEST on Thursday 11 June and goes for 24 hours – or until our matching pool is exhausted.
Can I donate before 11 June?
Yes! All donations made at givingday.BreakthroughT1D.org.au will go towards Giving Day. If you want to donate right now, it will still be counted against our goal amount – you just won’t see it matched on the live donation feed until 12:01am AEST on Thursday 11 June. As soon as we’re live, you’ll see your donation on the page and who has matched it.
PS. You can set yourself a reminder via email or text message on the “set a reminder” page.
How are donations being matched?
We’ve been lucky enough to partner with Funraisin, a platform that allows gift-matching for non-profits like us. Every time a member of the public makes a donation at givingday.BreakthroughT1D.org.au, our pool of generous corporate partners and philanthropists will contribute that exact amount, in effect doubling the original donation amount.
This will last for 24 hours only, until 12 June, or until the matching pool has been exhausted.
Who are the donation matchers?
Corporate organisations and high-profile Breakthrough T1D supporters make up the majority of the donation matchers. See the list at givingday.BreakthroughT1D.org.au.
What amount of my donation is tax deductible?
All gifts over $2 are tax deductible. Your original donation amount, before matching, will be visible in a tax deductible receipt and emailed to you once it has been confirmed.
Where does my money go?
Funds raised through this campaign will support vital T1D research, including advancing promising breakthroughs like islet transplantation. Read more about islet transplantation.
Ultimately, your gift will help solve the puzzle of T1D.
Can community fundraising efforts (for example, a Bunnings BBQ or raffle) be doubled?
Our Giving Day campaign focusses on tax-deductible donations, so funds raised from community fundraising activities can’t be doubled. The platform is specifically designed for personal donations, which are tax deductible, while funds from fundraising activities aren’t.
What should I do with the funds raised through community fundraising?
If you’ve raised funds through community fundraising, thank you! To donate them to Breakthrough T1D, please visit the Blue Army website or contact Breakthrough T1D donor services by emailing info@BreakthroughT1D.org.au.
